COMPOSER
Ruth Weber is an award-winning composer, receiving recognition in the Canadian Song Festival, the International Songwriting Competition, the Global Music Awards, the New York Pro/Am songwriting competition and Jewish American Songwriting Competition. Most recently, she was awarded the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in the Children's Music Category for her song, "Repair the World." "Together in Peace" Album with Rupam Sarmah reached #1 on the BILLBOARD World Music Charts. Her music has been used as core curriculum in the local school district, appeared in film and print music, and been recorded by artists in the U.S. and abroad.

Her most recent project, I Had A Dream – Songs of an Immigrant, is a collection of poems by Ruth's late grandmother, set to music. These songs memorialize the story of her impoverished childhood in Russia and daring escape during the Bolshevik Revolution.

ARRANGER
Ruth was choral arranger and choir conductor for the soundtrack of the 2019 feature film, “One Little Finger” by Rupam Sarmah and his team. The film is about breaking the barriers of the "disability" stigma. Quincy Jones and Julian Lennon perform on this critically-acclaimed film about Ability in Disability. ACCOMPANIST / PIANIST
Ruth is a highly-regarded accompanist/pianist who has worked as a recording artist for the Marantz company, concertized throughout the world with international opera singers, and played for such prestigious groups as the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, the San Fernando Valley Men's Chorus and Opera Aguascalientes.

PROFESSOR / PRIVATE PIANO STUDIO
Ms Weber has been teaching music for over 30 years, both privately and at the college level. She is presently a member of the music faculty at Palomar College (San Marcos campus) and Miramar College in San Diego. Ruth has taught: Basic Musicianship, Theory I, Ear Training I and II, Beginning Class Piano, Advanced Class Piano, College Chorus, Performance Studies, Accompanying Ensemble, Electronic Music Ensemble, Intro to Music for Elementary School Teachers, Intro to Music (a music history overview), History of Rock Music, and a team-taught Humanities course. Ruth is a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC), and her private piano students participate in the Certificate of Merit evaluations, and have won awards in many MTAC festivals as well as other scholarship competitions. Many of Ruth’s former students now make their livings as pianists. Watching her students’ progress and seeing many of them continue on to become professional musicians has been one of Ruth’s most rewarding life experiences. |
